JIMMY CHOO BRANDS


Jimmy Choo  ialah seorang seorang 
pereka kasut yang berpusat di London, England. Jimmy Choo terkenal kerana  kasut serta beg tangan buatan tangan yang mahal. Antarapelanggan-pelanggannya ialah 
pelakon terkenal seperti Natalia  Imbruglia, Katie Holmes serta  Puteri Diana dari Wales.  
 
Tamara Mellon menjadi rakan kongsi  dengan Jimmy Choo untuk memulakan sebuah syarikat pengeluaran  kasut yang berpusat di  Itali untuk mengeluarkan kasut dalam kuantiti yang besar.

Pada bulan April 2001, Jimmy Choo mengumumkan satu perjanjian perkongsian baru dengan Equinox Luxury Holdings Ltd, yang memperoleh saham-saham Jimmy Choo. Pengerusi dan CEO Equinox Robert Bensoussan menjadi CEO syarikat Jimmy Choo.

Nama sebenar Jimmy Choo adalah sebenarnya Jimmy Chow. Pendaftar telah tersilap mengeja namanya pada sijil kelahiran Jimmy Choo sehinggakan nama Jimmy Choo itu dikenali ramai. Beliau dilahirkan di Pulau Pinang, Malaysia, dan belajar di Kolej Teknikal Cordwainer (sekarang Kolej Fesyen London). Beliau mula membuat kasut ketika umurnya sebelas tahun.

JIMMY Choo Yeang Keat lahir di Pulau Pinang pada tahun 1961 di keluarga berketurunan China Hakka. Mendiang ayahnya, Choo Kee Yin, merupakan pembuatan kasut kedai di Pulau Pinang.Choo pernah bersekolah sehingga Darjah 6 sahaja tetapi berhenti untuk membantu ayahnya. Ketika beliau berusia 11, Choo membuat kasut pertama dan jatuh cinta dengan perniagaan.

Choo belajar rekaan kasut di Cortwainers College di London dan berjaya menamatkan pelajaranya pada tahun 1983. Ayahnya membayar untuk tahun pertama daripada empat tahun sahaja. Choo berkerja secara sambilan di restoran dan sebagai buruh di kilang kasut untuk membiayai pelajarannya. 

Kedai Kasut pertama Jimmy Choo dibuka pada tahun 1986 di Hackney, North London dengan menyewa sebuah bangunan hospital lama. Menurut Jimmy empat tahun pertama itu sangat sukar.

Tapi selepas Vogue terjumpa dan berkenan rekaannya,beliau mendapat 8 halaman review.Diana, Princess of Welsh, adalah penggemar Choo shoes. Diana mahukan kasut terbaik dari Jimmy Choo, dan beliau terus dikenali selepas itu.

Pada tahun 1996, beliau turut menubuhkan Jimmy Choo Ltd dengan British aksesoris editor Vogue Tamara Mellon.Pada bulan April 2001, Choo menjual 50 peratus saham di syarikat sebesar £ 100 juta (RM579 juta).

Sejak saat itu dia menumpukan pada Jimmy Choo Couture eksklusif line dihasilkan di bawah lesen daripada Jimmy Choo Ltd.Jimmy Choo London, juga dikenali sebagai Jimmy Choo Ready-to-Wear, atau sekadar, Jimmy Choo, berada di bawah pengawasan badan Tamara Mellon.Ready-to-Weartelah diperluas untuk merangkumi aksesoris seperti tas.

Pada tahun 2000, Sultan Pahang menobatkanya menjadi Datuk.Dua tahun kemudian, beliau diberikan Order of British Empire oleh Ratu Elizabeth II sebagai pengiktirafan atas jasa-jasanya kepada kasut dan industri fashion di United.Menempatkan statusnya pada tahap yang sama dengan penerima lain seperti David Beckham, Rod Steward, JK Rowling, dan Pierce Brosnan.

Pada tahun 2004, Choo dianugerahkan biasiswa oleh Universiti Seni London, memberikannya gelaran Profesor. Kini beliau tinggal di London.

Choo sekarang ialah warganegara UK.

  • 2000: Anugerah Negeri yang membawa gelaran Dato’ oleh Sultan Pahang.  
  • 2002: Diberi anugerah “OBE (Order of the British Empire)” bagi sumbangan beliau kepada industry fesyen dan kasut UK.
  • 2004: Anugerah Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri oleh  Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) Negeri Pulau Pinang yang membawa Gelaran Dato’.
  • 2004 : Menerima Pangkat Doktor Kepujian dalam bidang Seni oleh  De Montfort University, Leicester, U.K pada Julai 2004.
  • 2011: Pemenang “The World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer 2011”
  • 2012: Meneri “You Bring Charm to the World – World’s Most Influential Chinese Award”

Legislative framework
